How to train for our next Camino?

Answer – we’re going to revisit our favourite sections of the Camino Francés by way of preparation.

As you will have read in our last blog post, we’ve already booked flights to walk the Camino Portugués from Lisbon to Santiago next June.  Ken mentioned that he’d really enjoyed most of the Camino Francés (especially the Meseta) so much that he would like to return again at a different time of the year.  This gave Mandy an idea – why not do this before the Camino Portugués as part of our training?

We talked through the options and have decided to start in Pamplona and finish in León, breaking the walk into 2 sections:

  • from Pamplona to Santo Domingo de la Calzada (6 days’ walking) and catch the local bus to Burgos; and
  • from Burgos to León (7 days’ walking)

Ken has decided to take along his SLR camera and is hoping to take better photographs than he managed with his iPhone (which everyone seemed to like!).  We start walking on 11th May and and like last year we will try to upload daily posts to our blog once we’re on our way.
